It is not blind chance that unites congenial partners in the bonds of holy matrimony. A husband (is not just a man) or wife (is not merely a woman) but is a gift from God and is an expression of His loving favour.

Therefore a young man or woman should seek God's guidance before each permits their affections to go out to a prospective husband or wife. There would be fewer incompatible marriages if couples would allow God's mind to direct them and not emotions or a mere whim.

Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a (true) wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord.
