I Want It & I Want It Now!!!

in the next isle in the supermarket, it sounds almost like some serious emergency or murder. You peep down the isle and there is a young mum with a demanding youngster who wants either sweets, crisps or a toy. Mum is standing there looking very embarrassed, to stop the unwanted attention they are getting she gives in to the child.

In a restaurant a family are enjoying a meal together until the point the food arrives. One member is sure they will not like what is brought out and will not try it and so the usual scene and fuss starts.

This all sounds familiar doesn't it! We may have seen these things or been the cause of them. At times we behave like this with God. "Why can't I have it?" and we plead our case. Occasionally God does give us what we wanted just like the mum in the supermarket - even when it is not the best thing so that we will learn to let God be in charge. God says in Isaiah 55.8 "My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are My ways your ways."

Arthur Ashe the tennis champion in his book "Days of Grace"gave his daughter this advice. "Ask God for the wisdom to know what is right, and what God wants done and the will to do it." What sort of children are we?
